Zhuhai Shizimen CBD Phase 1

The architectural language of Zhuhai Huafa Properties Co., Ltd.'s CBD Phase 1 operates through a sophisticated vocabulary of symbolic forms that communicate aspiration, progress, and harmonious integration with natural elements. The tower's ascending spiral geometry may be interpreted as embodying traditional concepts of growth and continuous improvement, while its glass materiality suggests transparency, openness, and the free flow of ideas across boundaries. The tapered form, narrowing toward heaven, participates in architectural traditions spanning from ancient obelisks to contemporary supertalls, all employing verticality as a signifier of achievement and connection between earthly and celestial realms. The convention center's undulating roof forms invoke powerful maritime and organic associations, its wave-like profiles suggesting the eternal rhythms of water that define the site's coastal identity while also evoking concepts of fluidity, adaptability, and dynamic exchange that characterize successful gathering spaces. The material palette carries its own symbolic weight, with the tower's blue-tinted glass referencing both sky and water to dissolve boundaries between built form and natural environment. The careful integration of green spaces speaks to contemporary values of environmental stewardship and biophilic design, positioning human habitation within rather than against natural systems. This is a mixed-use development with site area 203,000 sqm located in Shizimen District of Zhuhai, comprised of a 330m tall tower Zhuhai Centre which is currently the tallest building in Zhuhai, a serviced apartment tower, a hotel tower, an exhibition and convention centre, a theatre and an opera house. The design concept was inspired by the ‘city of romance’ moniker of the city and the connection of the site to the water to create a romantic, comfortable and relaxing environment. The development has substantially elevated the social and economic development of the region since its opening.
