The symbolic architecture of Tianwen Sun's Omakase Restaurant operates through carefully orchestrated spatial and chromatic codes that transform a dining environment into a contemplative threshold between quotidian experience and elevated ritual. The tripartite vertical organization suggests cosmological ordering, with the dark ceiling evoking infinite void or night sky, the crimson wall representing the earthly realm of passionate engagement, and the luminous floor creating a foundation of transformative light that elevates those who walk upon it. The central band of illuminated screens functions as a mediating membrane between worlds, simultaneously barrier and invitation, with its amber warmth suggesting both hearth-fire comfort and sacred golden light associated with enlightenment across numerous cultural traditions. The silhouetted figure behind these screens embodies the archetypal attendant or guardian presence, their ambiguous visibility suggesting the liminal nature of service as both presence and absence, attention and discretion. The tatami-proportioned floor grid carries embedded meanings of measured order, mathematical harmony, and the ceremonial significance of bounded space where specific behaviors and heightened awareness become appropriate. Crimson and magenta traditionally connote vitality, celebration, auspicious occasion, and the warmth of human gathering, while the complementary orange illumination amplifies these associations with solar energy and nourishing abundance. The vertical aperture revealing the stairway introduces threshold symbolism, suggesting journey, ascent, transformation, and the possibility of passage into other experiential states. The geometric precision throughout speaks to values of intentionality, refinement, and the belief that beauty emerges through disciplined attention to proportion and relationship. This environment may be understood as a contemporary sacred space designed for the ritual of dining, where chromatic boldness and luminous materiality collaborate to mark the experience as set apart from ordinary life, worthy of presence and attention.
Omakase is a kaiseki cuisine which can attract one's eyes at the moment when one entering the door. Started with the design concept of sakura and dew, the sakura petals and dewdrops are combined in the glass partition in a creative way, achieving a virtual-real synthesis and crystal-clear decorative effects. The adoption of decorative materials is based on environmental protection consideration.
