Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

Linda Martins's interior environment operates as a richly encoded spatial narrative drawing upon archetypal resonances of shelter, cultivation, and the domestication of nature within hospitality contexts. The serpentine ceiling installation carries profound symbolic weight, its flowing forms evoking water as primal element of life, purification, and renewal, while simultaneously suggesting the protective embrace of organic canopy that speaks to deep evolutionary memories of sheltered gathering spaces beneath forest cover. The circular form of the central rug functions as a mandala-like organizational principle, establishing a sacred geometry of gathering that draws occupants toward its center while defining the boundaries of communal interaction. The chromatic orchestration carries deliberate meaning, with warm golden and amber tones evoking the psychological warmth of firelight and sunset, traditional signifiers of safety, homecoming, and the cessation of daily labor, while the green upholstery and living plants invoke fertility, growth, and vital life force. The library wall operates as a cultural signifier of erudition and contemplation, the accumulated presence of books suggesting intellectual heritage and the value placed upon knowledge and reflection within this hospitality environment. The wire-frame chairs reference mid-century modernist design heritage, particularly the formal vocabulary associated with refined domestic spaces of the post-war period, positioning the contemporary interior within established traditions of cultivated living while their open structure suggests transparency and visual honesty. The biophilic integration extends beyond mere decoration to function as symbolic mediation between constructed human environments and natural world, the indoor garden serving as a threshold space where architectural order and organic vitality achieve harmonious coexistence. The overall spatial narrative suggests a sanctuary removed from temporal urgency, a place where the values of contemplation, conversation, and sensory pleasure take precedence over productive efficiency.

The Koti Hotel project in Gramado, Brazil, embodies luxury, comfort, and sustainability. Inspired by the region's misty landscapes and mountain scenery, it integrates organic shapes in woodwork, lighting, and plaster, echoing the fluidity of fog. Using regional materials and recycled PET fabrics, the design highlights ecological responsibility. Blending contemporary style with local architectural charm, it offers a serene refuge, harmonizing interior elegance with the surrounding natural beauty, creating an immersive and unique guest experience.
