World Laureates Forum Permanent Site

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024

The symbolic architecture of SHXDAL's Permanent Site operates through a sophisticated vocabulary of spatial and geometric meaning, where the central oculus functions as an archetypal axis mundi connecting earthly deliberation with celestial aspiration. The rose window tracery pattern within the skylight carries profound iconographic resonance, traditionally associated with divine light, cosmic order, and the flowering of wisdom, here translated into contemporary formal language while retaining its essential symbolic function as a portal between material and transcendent realms. The radial ribbed structure surrounding this luminous center suggests organic growth patterns, perhaps evoking the unfurling of petals or the mathematical precision of natural forms like nautilus shells and sunflower seed arrangements governed by golden ratio proportions, encoding nature's fundamental organizing principles within built space. The color system operates through deliberate temperature contrasts: the cool, almost ethereal white of the architectural envelope suggests purity, clarity, and intellectual rigor, while the warm wood tones of the furniture ground participants in material presence and human scale, creating a dialogue between aspiration and embodiment. The circular plan itself carries ancient associations with wholeness, equality, and cosmic completeness, eschewing hierarchical axiality in favor of inclusive geometry where all participants face the center. The horseshoe arrangement further encodes collaborative rather than confrontational dynamics, suggesting open-ended dialogue rather than adversarial positioning. The upward visual movement encouraged by the converging ribs may be understood as spatial allegory for collective elevation, the architecture itself proposing that gathered minds might together ascend toward illumination. This space embodies what architectural phenomenology might term a threshold condition, mediating between everyday experience and heightened states of attention and purpose appropriate to consequential gathering.

The construction of the World Laureates Forum Permanent Site combines the use and application of new materials, new techniques, and new technologies to achieve the best presentation effect for the entire project. Furthermore, through the utilization of digital design assistance, cost control, and process management, the efficiency of project construction, as well as the precision of fabrication and installation, have been effectively enhanced, resulting in the intrinsic qualities of green, environmentally friendly, and safe construction.
