Greenland Huangpu Center Office Working Space

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2020

Yuan's reception environment operates as a sophisticated symbolic system wherein material choices and spatial geometries encode meanings extending far beyond functional requirements into realms of corporate identity formation and experiential psychology. The rippled ceiling surface functions as a powerful archetype, potentially evoking primordial water symbolism associated across cultures with consciousness, transformation, and the unconscious depths from which creativity emerges, suggesting that work conducted beneath this canopy participates in deeper currents of collective endeavor. The vertical slatted walls may reference traditional screens and filters found throughout architectural heritage, elements historically associated with the mediation between public and private realms, the filtering of light, and the creation of contemplative atmospheres conducive to focused attention. Their warm golden tonality carries connotations of prosperity, wisdom, and autumnal harvest across numerous symbolic traditions, potentially positioning the organization occupying this space within narratives of abundance and mature accomplishment. The luminous white boundary ribbon traces what might be understood as a threshold marker, its glowing presence delineating the liminal zone between overhead celestial realm and surrounding earthly materiality, perhaps suggesting the organization operates at productive intersections between visionary aspiration and grounded practicality. The bilateral near-symmetry of the composition activates archetypal associations with balance, stability, and institutional permanence, while the organic curves simultaneously introduce dynamism and adaptability, resolving apparent opposition between tradition and innovation. The polished floor plane with its subtle geological veining may reference concepts of foundation and longevity, the deep time of stone contrasting with the fluid immediacy of the water-like ceiling to position human activity within cosmic temporal scales. This spatial envelope ultimately constructs an experiential narrative wherein occupants transition from quotidian exterior reality into an elevated realm characterized by material refinement, formal sophistication, and symbolic density.

This project is located at Shanghai. OFFICE+ is used as the theme of the project, which conforms to the people-oriented, smart and innovative working concept. The designers hoped to inspire workers by giving them a workspace with creativity and present a more interesting, efficient and environmental space.
